"Shorthand Keys" gives you two shorthand ways of entering a value into a field without having to type the whole value:
1/ Type the first letter(s) of the value and Dynodex fills in the rest. (For example, instead of typing the whole word "President" into the "Title" field, you can type just "P", and Dynodex fills in the rest of the word.) This method works only if you have turned on "Auto Find" for that field.
2/ "Shorthand Key" fields work as pop-ups. This means you can click on the field label and select the value you want from the pop-up list. (For example, you could click on "Title" and select "President". Dynodex will insert "President" into the field without your having to type.)
Auto Find: For Dynodex to recognize a value as you begin to type it, you must turn on "Auto Find" for that field. If you begin to type a value it doesn't recognize (i.e., a new or incorrect value), Dynodex will accept the value.
Benefits of "Shorthand Keys":

• Reduces typing errors and provides consistent data entry
The "Shorthand Keys" feature can be used with these fields: "Business", "Title", "City", "State", "Country", "Phone Keys 1-4"and "Keys 1-3". Because they work as pop-ups, they appear in the entry screen encircled by a box.
To turn shorthand keys on for one of the above fields, you can choose Edit from that field's popup menu and click the Shorthand box OR just type Cmd-Option-S when you are in the field.
Dynodex comes with some pre-set "Shorthand Keys" for certain fields. You must then add the ones you use. You can assign up to 128 different values for each field.
To add, modify, or remove any "Shorthand Key", you must choose "Shorthand Keys", Cmd-K, or choose "Edit" in any field pop-up (which brings you to the "Shorthand Key" dialog). The dialog is the same for all fields--just select the field you want to work with from the "Shorthand Key" pop-up at the top.
The "Shorthand Keys" Dialog:
• Shorthand Key: A pop-up list from which you can select the field you want to work with.
• Add: Click here to add the current value to the list of possibilities. If that value already exists, Dynodex will tell you so you can choose a different name or use an existing one. You must click "OK" to save the added name to the list.
• Modify: Click here to modify an existing value. You must first select the value you want to edit in the scrollable list, then make the change, then click the "Modify" button. You must click "OK" to save the modified name to the list.
• Remove: Click here to remove the selected value from the scrollable list. You must click "OK" to record the deletion.
• Name: Type whatever value you want to add to the scrollable list of possibilities.
• Auto Find: Activates the ability for Dynodex to recognize a beginning letter or letters and fill in the rest.
To assign (add) a new "Shorthand Key":
• Select the "Shorthand Keys" menu, type Cmd-K, or choose "Edit" in any field pop-up.
• Position the cursor in the field, and type the new "Shorthand Key". As soon as you begin to type, Dynodex will recognize that you're typing an unknown key, and will automatically open the "Shorthand Keys" dialog.
• Finish typing the new "Shorthand Key" in the "Name" box.
• Click on "Add". Notice that the new Key is now included in the scrollable list.
• Click "OK". Dynodex will enter the new Key in the field. Until you remove this Key, you can now access it through the pop-up field label or by typing the first letter(s) of the Key Name.
To edit an existing "Shorthand Key":
• Choose "Shorthand Keys", Cmd-K, from the "Edit" Menu. Or drag to "Edit" in the pop-up field label.
• In the "Shorthand Keys" dialog, select the correct field in the "Shorthand Key" pop-up.
• Click on the Key you want to modify.
• Type the revised Key Name.
• Click on "Modify". Notice that the revised version of the Key now shows in the scrollable list.
• Click "OK".
To remove an existing "Shorthand Key"
• Choose "Shorthand Keys", Cmd-K, from the "Edit" Menu. Or drag to "Edit" in the pop-up field label.
• In the "Shorthand Keys" dialog, select the correct field in the "Shorthand Key" pop-up.
• Click on the Key you want to modify.
• Click "Remove". Notice that the Key has been removed from the scrollable list.
